As I sit here, a few days from Obama's inaguration, what's really sad to me is the trend that atlanta, the city, has succumbed to the larger georgia mindset, clinging to some wild misguided pro-george w bush lunacy. atlanta -- tho itself a majority-obama -- can't get itself out from under that surrounding mindset, unlike other similarly advanced (in population, education, arts, economics, etc) southern states like virginia and north carolina. i guess i'd say that, really, it's down to texas and georgia as the last bastion of big states that are stuck as anti-democrat, anti-liberal (rather than simply "conservative"). and it's simply too bad that atlanta has to bear the brunt of that.
